In the capital,Ulaanbaatar, you can find all types of housing, apartment building (brick or concrete), and also a few houses. Since the past year, in the capital there has been a lot of new housing construction. You can now rent a place from USD$200 to $3 000/month. It depends on your budget. For those of you that might be worrying about security, lots of the new apartment buildings are fenced and provide security guard 24 hour a day. At the State Department Store you can buy furniture, appliances and every other kind of household goods such as: iron, microwave, coffee maker, deep fryer, juicer, rice cooker, humidifier, fan, you name it. Most of the cooking and baking equipment (pots and pans) is available also. You may have to look in a few different stores, but you can find almost anything. Don't be worried about the bathrooms in Ulaanbaatar, toilets and showers are western style. In the countryside, it's a bit different, don't bother looking for toilets, there is usually no designated place to do whatever you have to. Just find a spot away from a Ger, Ovoo and river.
Mongolian's culture is rich, unique and very interesting. There are many opportunities offered to you to discover and enjoy Mongolia's traditions. It is also possible to join few organizations and meet new people. Museums There are many museums featuring Mongolian's arts, culture and history. Most places charge about US$5.00, this is a really cheap way to be introduced to the culture. You can also visit a few Buddhist Temples around town. Opera If you like opera or dancing shows, you will love to go to the Opera and Ballet Theatre and State Folk and Dancing Ensemble. Have a look in the UB Post for the schedule.

Social ClubsFor those of you who like to meet new friends, it is possible to join the following organizations: Hash House Harriers: They meet at the Bayangol Hotel every Tuesday night at 18h30. Television and DVD rentalLocal cable and satellite dish companies broadcast the following English channels:
The Records Store on Peace Ave, in front of the State Department Store rents DVDs for T 1,500 + T7,000 for deposit. NewspapersThere are 2 weekly english newspapers available for purchase at hotels and cafés and also at newspaper stand at the Merkury Market. Mongol Messenger UB Post InternetThere are many Internet Cafés spread out in the city and offer good services for only USD$0.80/hour. It is also possible to get Internet hooked up at your house with the Internet providers company, Magic Net.
